You have to see this to believe it.
No, it’s not really what you think it’s going to be, but it’s close. I can’t help but wonder two things:
- Do they really like him in Germany?
- Why?

1. Yes
2. If only I knew, truly a disgrace
That is wrong man. Just very wrong to be subjected to. From the bad green screening to the singing to the hair… Just plain wrong.
I wish I could explain it. Like I said, I find it to be a disgrace. There are plenty of other hideous music choices that are rather popular in Germany as well. “Volksmusik” is a genre that I cannot relate to at all. The prime stomping ground for anybody involved in this movement would have to be “Musikantenstadl“, which airs on German public TV. Here is a link to Wikipedia that tries to explain it: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musikantenstadl
Unfortunately, I could only find this in German. It’s a scary part of German culture – maybe a bit like country music in the US…
Don’t forget about Schnappi, who is much more tolerable than David H.

I grabbed the mp3 because it’s hard to find it these days:

Babelfish didn’t make any sense out of the Wikipedia article either. In fact, I get the impression that I (as a non-German speaker) would have been better off reading the original in German that trying to grok the Babelfish translation.
That Schnappi song was almost cute.
I could always pull out some of my favorites from rathergood.com: I Like the Moon is probably my favorite, although who thought Destiny’s Child could sound so good.
Rathergood.com is by a guy named Joel Veitch. He did that Quizno’s commercial with the marmosets “I Like the Subs!” and the original few of those kittens singing punk songs.
