    Purpose:

    This position is responsible for research, design, documentation, and modification of software programs and applications.

    Key Result Areas:

    1. Provides trouble-shooting support to users of software programs to ensure prompt resolution of errors and problems with software functionality.

    • Recreates steps taken by user to locate source of problem and replaces, deletes, or modifies codes to correct errors; runs appropriate tests to ensure functionality.
    • Works with Information Technologies team to assist in resolving problems with company software systems.
    • Performs maintenance and upgrades to existing software programs in an effective and timely manner; provides user with information related to changes in program function.
    • Monitors performance of systems and programs on a regular basis; makes changes as needed.
    • Writes and maintains documentation to describe errors and changes made to software.

    2. Works with developers, analysts, and designers to select, install, and upgrade software programs and applications to ensure the product provides the best possible solution for the user.

    • Meets with user to define requirements for new or modified software programs; evaluates to determine feasibility, cost, and time required, compatibility with current systems, and computer capabilities.
    • Assists in formulating and outlining steps required to develop program and submits to user for approval; prepares flowcharts and diagrams as needed to explain processes.
    • Writes, translates, and enters code as necessary for program development; works with others as needed.
    • Tests and implements software programs in an efficient and timely manner.
    • Generates statistics and prepares and writes report for management and/or team members on status of the programming process.
    • Compiles and writes documentation of program development and revisions.
    • Assists in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines; provides training to employees on use of the program as necessary.
    • Conducts research on languages and standards to support current and future development efforts.

    3. Looks for ways to enhance existing systems to ensure software programs are running as efficiently as possible and resources are maximized.

    • Recommends solutions or alternatives to meet end-user needs or to help users perform their job better.
    • Analyzes, review, and alters programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements.
    • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades as needed.
    • Keeps current with improvements in programming/analysis techniques and applies as appropriate; keeps up-to-date on current technologies.
    • Writes and deletes code script from company website and related web applications as necessary to enhance functionality and appearance.

    4. Performs other projects, work and activities as assigned to ensure continuous service to our internal and external customers.
